In the first half of 2020, the national construction enterprises (referring to the qualified general contracting and professional contracting construction enterprises, excluding labor subcontracting construction enterprises, the same below) completed the total output value of the construction industry of 10084.012 billion yuan, down 0.76 percent from the same period last year; the completed output value was 3802.775 billion yuan, down 7.84 percent from the same period last year; the total amount of contracts signed was 39087.538 billion yuan, up 7.39 percent from the same period last year, of 12599.208 billion yuan, up 4.73; the construction area of houses was 11.206 billion square meters, up 4.24 percent year-on-year; the completed area of houses was 1.245 billion square meters, down 12.57 percent year-on-year. By the end of June 2020, there were 102712 construction enterprises with construction activities nationwide, up 10.76 per cent year-on-year; the number of employees was 41.209 million, down 4.38 per cent year-on-year; and labor productivity in terms of total construction output was 232019 yuan per person, up 4.78 per cent year-on-year.

1. the basic situation of the national construction industry in the first half of 2020

In the first half of 2020, the national construction enterprises (referring to qualified general contracting and professional contracting construction enterprises, excluding labor subcontracting construction enterprises, the same below) completed the total output value of the construction industry of 10084.012 billion yuan, down 0.76 from the same period last year. By the end of June 2020, there were 102712 construction enterprises with construction activities nationwide, up 10.76 per cent year-on-year; the number of employees was 41.209 million, down 4.38 per cent year-on-year; and labor productivity in terms of total construction output was 232019 yuan per person, up 4.78 per cent year-on-year.

(I) Construction Value Added After preliminary accounting, China's GDP in the first half of 2020 was 45661.4 billion billion yuan, down 1.6 percent year-on-year. In the first half of the year, the added value of the construction industry reached 2853.5 billion billion yuan, down 1.9 percent from the same period last year, and the growth rate was 0.3 percentage points lower than the growth rate of GDP. The value added of the construction industry accounted for 6.25 per cent of GDP.

(II) construction and installation project investment, construction output value in the first half of 2020, the national fixed asset investment (excluding farmers) 28160.3 billion yuan, down 3.1 percent year-on-year, of which, construction and installation project investment fell 3.8 percent year-on-year. In the first half of 2020, the total output value of the construction industry was 10084.012 billion billion yuan, down 0.76 percent from the same period last year.

Number of employees, number of enterprises and labor productivity in the construction industry in (III) As of the end of June 2020, the number of employees in the construction industry was 41.209 million, a decrease of 1.8893 million, or 4.38 percent, compared with the same period last year; the number of construction enterprises was 102712, an increase of 9979, or 10.76 percent, compared with the same period last year. Among them, there were 6642 state-owned and state-controlled construction enterprises, an increase of 152 over the same period last year, accounting for 6.47 per cent of the total number of construction enterprises. In the first half of 2020, labor productivity based on the total output value of the construction industry was 232019 yuan/person, an increase of 4.78 percent over the same period last year.

Total amount of contracts signed and new contracts signed by (IV) construction enterprises In the first half of 2020, the total amount of contracts signed by construction enterprises nationwide was 39087.538 billion billion yuan, an increase of 7.39 percent over the same period last year. Among them, the amount of newly signed contracts was 12599.208 billion yuan, up 4.73 over the same period last year. The proportion of newly signed contracts to the total amount of contracts signed was 32.23 per cent.

(V) Housing Construction Area and Completed Area In the first half of 2020, the construction area of housing construction enterprises nationwide was 11.206 billion square meters, an increase of 4.24 percent over the same period last year. Among them, the newly started area of 2.226 billion square meters, down 5.36 percent from the same period last year. The completed area of housing construction was 1.245 billion square meters, down 12.57 percent from the same period last year. Judging from the composition of the completed area of houses in the national construction industry, the completed area of residential houses accounted for the largest proportion, 67.65 per cent; the completed area of factories and buildings accounted for 12.81 per cent; the completed area of commercial and service houses accounted for 6.48 per cent; and the completed area of other types of houses accounted for less than 5 per cent.

(VI) Foreign Contracting Projects In the first half of 2020, my country's foreign contracting business completed a turnover of 425.99 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 10.6 percent (equivalent to US $60.58 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 13.8 percent), and the amount of newly signed contracts was 753.82 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.0 percent (equivalent to US $107.2 billion, a year-on-year increase of 1.2 percent). Chinese enterprises have signed 2289 new contracts for foreign contracted projects in 59 countries along the "the belt and road initiative" route, with a new contract amount of 424.02 billion yuan, accounting for 56.3 of the new contracts for foreign contracted projects in China in the same period, down 1.7 (equivalent to 60.3 billion US dollars, down 5.2 from the same period); The completed turnover was 250.12 billion yuan, accounting for 58.7 of the total in the same period, down 4.4 (equivalent to 35.57 billion US dollars, 7.8% YoY). In the first half of 2020, my country's foreign labor cooperation dispatched 133000 laborers of various types, a decrease of 102000 from the same period last year; of which 73000 were dispatched under contracted projects and 60000 were dispatched under labor cooperation. At the end of June, there were 659000 workers of all kinds outside the country.

2. the basic situation of the construction industry in various regions in the first half of 2020

(I) the completion of the total output value of the construction industry in the first half of 2020, Jiangsu still led the construction industry in all regions of the country, the total output value of the construction industry continued to exceed 1 trillion yuan, reaching 1242.868 billion yuan, accounting for 12.33 percent of the total output value of the national construction industry. In addition to Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Sichuan, Hubei, Shandong, Fujian, Beijing, Henan and Hunan have a total output value of more than 400 billion yuan. The total output value of the construction industry completed by the above 10 provinces and cities accounts for 65.87 of the total output value of the national construction industry. Judging from the growth of the total output value of the construction industry in various regions, the total output value of the construction industry in 19 regions has increased by different degrees compared with the same period last year. Among them, Tibet and Xinjiang ranked in the top two, reaching 50.41 and 24.54 percent respectively. Twelve regions experienced negative growth, of which Hubei experienced a negative growth of 21.40 per cent.

The amount of new contracts signed by (II) In the first half of 2020, the amount of new contracts signed by construction enterprises in Guangdong and Jiangsu provinces ranked in the top two, reaching 3653.764 billion yuan and 3638.894 billion yuan respectively. The newly signed contracts exceeded 1000 billion yuan in 12 regions including Zhejiang, Beijing, Hubei, Shanghai, Sichuan, Shandong, Fujian, Hunan, Henan, Shaanxi, Anhui and Chongqing. The regions with faster year-on-year growth in newly signed contracts were Tibet, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Guizhou, Shanghai and Henan, all with an increase of more than 15%. The value of newly signed contracts in the three regions showed negative growth, of which the negative growth in Yunnan and Hunan both exceeded 5%.

(III) the total output value of the construction industry completed by regions across provinces In the first half of 2020, the total output value of the construction industry completed by regions across provinces was 3491.33 billion yuan, an increase of 1.92 percent over the same period last year. The total output value of the inter-provincial construction industry accounts for 34.62 per cent of the total output value of the national construction industry. Jiangsu and Beijing ranked the top two in the total output value of the inter-provincial construction industry, with 545.429 billion yuan and 402.582 billion yuan respectively. The sum of the cross-provincial output value of the two provinces accounted for 28.50 per cent of the total cross-provincial output value. In 12 regions including Zhejiang, Hubei, Fujian, Shanghai, Guangdong, Hunan, Shandong, Henan, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Tianjin and Jiangxi, the total output value of the construction industry completed across provinces exceeded 100 billion yuan. In terms of outward orientation (I. e., the proportion of the region's output value completed in other provinces to the total output value of the region's construction industry), the top three regions are Beijing, Tianjin and Shanghai, with 76.68 per cent, 63.75 per cent and 59.67 per cent, respectively. There are 12 regions with an export-oriented degree of more than 30%, including Qinghai, Hubei, Fujian, Jiangsu, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Hebei, Liaoning, Hunan, Zhejiang and Jiangxi.

(IV) Employees and Labor Productivity In the first half of 2020, there were 13 regions with more than one million employees in the construction industry. Jiangsu and Zhejiang are still large provinces with 6.2451 million and 4.7042 million employees respectively. Fujian, Sichuan, Guangdong, Henan, Shandong and Hunan provinces have more than 2 million employees. Compared with the same period last year, the number of employees in 7 regions increased. Among them, Sichuan had the largest increase, with an increase of 222300; the number of employees in 24 regions decreased, of which Zhejiang had the largest decrease, with a decrease of 799800. The largest increase in the number of employees was in Sichuan, an increase of 9.08; the largest decline was in Qinghai, down 26.16.

In the first half of 2020, labor productivity in terms of total construction output grew in 28 regions and decreased in 3 regions. The top three regions in terms of labor productivity are Beijing, Hubei and Shanghai, with 357198 yuan/person, 331313 yuan/person and 327184 yuan/person respectively. Labor productivity increased by more than 10% in Tibet, Qinghai, Xinjiang, Ningxia, Gansu, Guangxi, Shandong, Liaoning and Inner Mongolia; the largest decline was in Hubei, which fell by 8.68.

3. Analysis of the basic situation of special and first-class qualified construction enterprises in the first half of 2020

The main index data of 6732 special and first-class qualified construction enterprises in the first half of 2020 summarized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development are as follows.

Special, the main index data of first-class qualified enterprises in the first half of 2020, the total construction output value of first-class construction enterprises, the amount of newly signed project contracts, and the growth rate of housing construction area are all greater than the growth rate of national construction enterprises. The decline in the number of employees and the completed area of housing construction is lower than that of national construction enterprises, and the contribution of large enterprises to the development of the industry is very obvious.
